Professor Philip Hutchinson PhD, CEng, CPhys, F.Inst.Phys, FREng, DTech(Hon), DL
Philip Hutchinson is an Emeritus Professor of Cranfield University. He recently retired as Principal of the Royal Military College of Science and Deputy Vice Chancellor of Cranfield University. Philip was also Head of Engineering Sciences Division at the Harwell Research Laboratory where he lead teams carrying out applied research for Industry and Government on energy efficiency and the environment. He was a member of the Power and Propulsion Systems Advisory Board of Rolls Royce plc from 1990 to 2006.

He was also Chairman of the European Research Community in Flow, Turbulence and Combustion (ERCOFTAC), 1994 - 2000, co founder and Chairman of the International Energy Agency Executive Committee on Emissions Reduction and Improved Efficiency in Combustion, and is an occasional advisor to agencies of the Norwegian and Swedish Governments on Research Policy and Academic Appointments.

He was educated as a Theoretical Physicist and developed an interest in Engineering and business. In 2003 he was appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Oxfordshire.
